How did Joker get his scars?

In the movie he said two ways.





His dad gave it to him when he was a child.





and





he did it to make himself look like his wife so she can be happy.How did Joker get his scars?
I think he was kidding about both, on account that he is the Joker, and is trying to strike fear into their lives.





Although their are 2 possibilities that Joker got his scars.





1) His dad gave it to him when he was a child, on account we do not know his childhood. And his dad being drunk is more likely to be the father of the Joker.





2) He did it to himself because he is the Joker, and is truly demented.





I think it cannot possibly be the 'He did it to make himself look like his wife so she can be happy.' one. Because: Joker? with a wife? come on? you serious? -AND- Joker? Making his wife? Happy?? In your dreams.

That movie is the only time that talks about how he got his scars, ever.


It never talked about how he got his scars in any old comics, so it could be either of those ways. Probably neither though, because he never talked about it in the comics.





The Joker was married, it says in the old comics his wife was beautiful, 'cause The Joker wassn't always 'crazy'. But I think he would pass out if he did to him self.
i think it was something in his past he didn't wanna talk bout, and i think whatever happened to him is what made him such a creep. i don't think either of those are why he has them.
