You might try that mederma cream that they sell at any drug store for new and old scars. I personally used vitamin E lotion (not oil) and it worked for me. You could possibly get laser treatment or dermabrasion if the scar is raised. If it is for cosmetic reasons alone, then the NHS will not do it, if the scar causes you to feel depressed and self conscious and if it impacts on normal, everyday things such as eating or talking then you should speak to your doctor and see what treatments are available.


I recommend using Vitamin E directly on the scar to soften, improve and possibly even lessen, it's appearance. :)

Hi, If its acne scars, you will need to keep a high SPF sunblock on your face daily to prevent the UV light from making the scars any darker to start with (irritation on skin + UV light = darker pigmentation). Try a special sunblock for the face only to avoid greasy ones. Use an SPF 30 everyday with out fail.


Then you will need to use something like a Vitamin C product or Vitamin A (retinol) or other clinical strength product to help fade the scarring. You will need to see a beauty therapist or dermatologist about this if you are serious about seeing a result. Most of the products you will get over the counter ie pharmacy and grocery store just arent going to cut it Im afraid, their level of active ingredients in them is minimal.


Most beauty therapists will see you for a free consultation or a nominal fee which is refundable against any purchase you make in their clinic.

Omg, I have the same problem as you. Its quite annoying. I had acne a while back and now I'm still seeing the scars that were left behind. I haven't tried bio oil, but thanks for letting me know that it doesn't work. I too have tried cocoa butter after hearing good things about it, but it hasn't worked for me. I also used rosehip oil, but as you can guess, I still have the scars. Also, rosehip oil is not for someone with normal or oily skin I think because it made me break out! I was so frustrated! OMG! I've never thought about that. That's really weird actually...I'll have to check back here later to see what answers have cropped up.
I think it has to do with the fact that when you get a scar, it's basically a new layer of tissue underneath, and new skin... so that it's always a step younger than the surrounding tissue and skin, which has been tanned and developed for much longer.





Interesting question, and my answer is somewhat fuzzy I know.
The body heals by scar tissue. It is like a bridge. It is not normal skin. It may eventually become more normal, but it is going to scar because it needs to bridge the gap.
I'm thinking scar tissue is different from regular skin. If you damage the skin beyond it's natural repair mechanisms, scar tissue begins to form to mend what your skin cannot mend. Scar tissue does not contain skin cells which regenerate.

Try doing both at the same time - the body works best from the inside out but a little help from the outside in never hurt!!





Also try mixing the capsule with some moisturizer it will help the vitamin E sink in better rather than just rubbing it straight on - any moisturizer will do but something with vitamin E in already (such as Palmer's Cocoa Butter or something) will just add to the healing process.





And when taking a capsule make sure it's when you eat so the vitamin is absorbed better.

Bio-oil is really good for getting rid of scars. It takes a couple of weeks to start working, but it's worth it. I don't know where you're from, but in the UK, it's available from chemists and pharmacies. There's also a website, you might be able to get in on line.

vitamin E is good for scars. If you break open the gelcap %26amp; put in on your scar. It's better for new scars, but it might be worth a shot for old ones. If that doesn't work, def get Mederma, it's lotion specially made to fade scars. But it can be about $30 from what I remember.
Some places, or local doctor could hand over some medical treatment to make them fade away (my mother requested this), but if you're looking for a quick and cheap option you could hide the scars with make-up.

I have a lot of scars covering my arms. They range from faint white lines to tough, raised red sections. But the majority are those white lines.





I tried a scar removal cream but it didn't help. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can at least make the scars less noticeable without surgery or anything? Something not too pricey, if possible.How can I remove scars?
I have a lot of scars from knee surgeries (8 inch incision down my leg) and I swear by something called silicon scar patches. It is just a clear piece of silicon that you put over the scar(s) and wear as long as you can. In a few months, the scars should start to flatten and fade. It won't get rid of them, but they will be much less noticeable. If your scars are small, you can try getting them at your local drugstore in the first aid isle. I think Neosporin brand name makes them. These ones are about 2 or 3 inches and they stick on. They are not reusable, so you will probably have to go through quite a few boxes. I bought one from this website www.rejuveness.com. It was expensive, but I needed a different shape one and you can get any size you want. Also, it is reusable and lasts forever. You just tape it on with first aid tape. Then when you are done wearing it, you wash it with warm soap and water and you tape it back on when you are ready to wear it again. You can't get rid of scars cheaply. I believe their is a cosmetic surgery option, but it would probably be very expensive.

I have one on my left knee. When I was 2 my mom was cleaning the oven. The oven door was open, I tried to climb into the oven. The oven cleaner ate some of the skin on my knee.
I have a hardly noticeable scar on the top of my forehead from when I was swinging on a grapevine over a 20ft high ridge like thing (we call them ';hollers';. It's two really steep hills real close to each other, the ridge in the middle of them is called a holler or hollow), fell at 15ft, did a nice face plant on a log, busted my head open, and had to get 7 stitches.

It does not help at al. I had the same problem, for years. It really pissed me off that I should have been more popular, except for the pimples. I am smart and funny, but they just ate away at my self-esteem. I was determined to get rid of them by hook or by crook.





I tried a whole bunch of things like proactive and others but nothing seemed to work. I tried a few different books and ebooks and nothing helped. If they annoy you that bad just cover them up with a good concealer. When you wake up in the morning, collect your pee. Put a face mask or some cold cream (not a joke, actually helps) on your skin to soothe it, and then try moisturising only if your sure it wont make it worse.


my sister had the same problem from when she was about 10 toll she was 15. She went to a dermatologist and recieved lazer treatment on her skin, it also cleared her of eczema. she has extremly sensitive skin, and it didnt harm her. i think its quite expensive, but its really worth it.

Cocoa Butter is one of the best ways to heal scars. Many women use it on stretch marks, it's the main ingredient in any tattoo healing cream, and I've heard several attestations for using it on burns and other scars. I was once given Mederma for scars which is sold over the counter at Rite Aid or CVS. It may work well, but it's very thick and smells funny. It may be worth a shot, but I'd use it with the Cocoa Butter too (who knows, that might be what's in Mederma!)

I would try vitamin E oil rubbed into the scars but it would take doing it everyday for a long while and it still wont rid you of them completely. Good for you that you are not cutting anymore xx
im a ex cutter too and had a few surgeries for other random stuff.... my surgeon told me to take a liquid vitamin E capsule and poke a hole in it and rub it on my skin. it didnt make them ';go away'; but it made them a lot lighter and less noticeable. try it you can get it at almost any drug store

Coco butter and Bio Oil is good, but it does take ages. you can kinda get rid of the scares but you can never get rid of the memories.

Are you shure that you dont have a condition called Hidradenitis Supprativa. It is re-occurring boils/ cysts/abscesses that are often misdiagnosed as ingrown hairs, herpes, being unclean or over weight and folliculitis. I have had this for 8 years, I was misdiagnosed for a LONG time, and it was very embarrassing, painful and scary. I am just trying to help out so you don鈥檛 have to wait as long as I did.





Currently I have 5, 2 next to each other on my right inner groin. 2 in my upper HAIR area, and 1 med sized on my butt on the panty line, and they do come every week or so. Acid causes chemical burns. The severity of the burns depends upon the strength of the acid and the time of exposure - if it gets rinsed off right away, the burn will be minimal.


Second degree burns (with blisters) will leave a scar, and there isn't much you can do about it. Third degree burns require a skin transplant, and that leaves scarring too.


If the acid was weak enough and you have no pain, you have nothing to worry about. But it would be a good idea to wash it off anyway.

i don't know any natural home remedies. but i know i used to have very bad acne and scars too. but about 98 percent of my acne went away with age. i am now 18 and my acne is like almost non existent. but try using clearisil. or somthing like that. it helped me alot, but i noticed that acne can come from stress, so if your stressed out try to relax. but anyway good luck.
I am in the same boat as you! I have tried lots of stuff but I am about to try olive oil( apply to skin like a lotion) or lemon juice-same thing. ive heard that vitamin E helps but i wont try that

Since you are black I would stay away from hydoquinone. I don't believe in mederma either... If I were you I would go to a dermatologist and get a mild retin-a prescription like tazorac or differin. I would also look into getting microdermabrasion ( not regular dermabrasion ) In the meantime I would just use OTC Salicylic acid products or fruit acid products until I could get microdermabrasion and/or get to a doctor... You could also start using Loreal reNoviste it's an OTC peel and can been found in any major drugstore

Women also use it to get rid of stretch marks because it does something with the collagen in your skin. Chemical peels also work, but you might have to get more than one for them to be completely gone.

I'm no dermatologist, but it sounds like you may need to stop using chemical products. Try washing your face with Cetaphil - this is just a basic face wash that is not specific for acne so it has chemical add-ins, for the meantime. Beyond that, I would say a dermatologist can really help!

I used to have oily skin, this is what has helped:





1. I stopped using all skincare products





2. This is what helps me to get my skin soft and smooth( and no more oilies)


Before I rinse my face with regular tap water, I use Evian ( bottled spring water) . I pour it on the cupped palm of my hand and just sort of smear it all over my face.. I use 2 bottles of Evian water ( one for each side of my face). I follow that by simply rinsing my face with regular tap water. I then use the 3rd bottle of Evian and again I smoothe it over my face just because it makes it so soft. After that I pat my face dry. I find that Evian water actually helps to cleanse and soften the skin, which I could never achieve by using tap water only.

A face peel might work for the acne scars. As for your oily skin, try using baby powder, it's simple, but I've met lots of people with oily skin and it seems to work for them.
if your skin is that oily skip the moisturizer and use an oil control lotion before you apply makeup-which should be oil free and non comedigenic, use a cleanser for your skin type but don't wash more than 2-3 times a day, gently, no harsh scrubbing, your skin will be worse. Use an acne mask(neutrogena makes a good one) once or twice weekly and during the day carry those little oil absorbing sheets with you, they blot of the oil without messing up your makeup(you can buy them at any beauty supply store)





as for the acne scars you should see a dermatlogist, possible a series of light peels or microdermabrasion can help. They also have new laser treatments that can help with scarring

i kinda have the same problem, but my skin is not so oily, the only thing you could do is cry about it because nothing can be done unless you wash yourself at least twice a day and start eating healthierand drink lots of water. its all in the genes. so nothing can be done. its a sad story that we have to live by.
is this question about acne scarrs or oily skin? for the scarrs, use mederma and for the oily skin use clean%26amp;clear oil wipes. it is portable and gets rid of the oil without removing your makeup.
Go to Wal-mart and buy this bar soap called Natural something anyway it comes wrapped individually in al light green wrapper and it works great for me it helps my face say oil-free and helps dry the pimples and guess what it's really cheap costs about .99 cents , you can find it in the bar soap section.
