Scarring is caused from having a specific type of acne called cystic acne. So called because it has the acne on top but also has a type of cyst under the skin.
When the acne clears up (which can take 1 to 2 weeks for this sort of acne) the cyst creates a pit in the skin.
This type of scarring has nothing to do with picking at your skin, although that will make the problem worse it is not the cause.
The cause is the actual cyst.

it depends on the skin and how deep the 'thing' is, but some who have ultra sensitive skin can avoid scars if the marks are dealt it while its early, like in some low-cost facial treatments wherein after the pricking treatment they put in creams or even a small laser to dry out the 'wounds' or something.

Depends what type of spot I suppose. Whithead, boil or blackhead. Or how deep it is.
Hmmmmmm..... Errrrrrr......... Sorry, dun mean to be a b!tch but I've got no idea. Never had zits except for the occasional 1 or 2 when I'm having menses. But those clears up in less than a weeks' time..
